The Circus,
Bath
|
|
| Bath
is full of fantastic Georgian architecture but The Circus
is probably the best. The perfection of the curved, 360 degree
buildings are amazing. Taking from 1752 to 1768 to build,
it is without a doubt the masterpiece of the architect John
Wood the Elder. Inspired by the Flavian Amphitheatre in Rome,
but designed with the inner curve on show rather than the
outer, it is a must-see for any lovers of architecture visiting
the west of England. |
